Googolplex - For school aged members. Visit the 5-Spot Clubhouse (elementary school), AJ's Mall (middle school), or C-Note University (high school). You can play fun games while learning how to develop positive financial practices!
Guides to Independence - For teen and young adult members. Is it time for you to become financially responsible? Whether you're thinking of buying a car, opening a share draft (checking) account, or trying to save for your future, Guides to Independence will help you learn how to make financial decisions with our online activities and tutorials.
If you are eligible and registered, you are entitled to one free music download for each Guides course you complete. You may take any course more than once, but will receive a download code the first time only. Sometimes you might receive a download code worth more than one free song. These bonus tunes are awarded randomly. Notice of any bonus songs will appear on the course certificate. Gain financial independence and download your favorite tunes to an MP3 player, iPod, CD, or computer.
Home and Family Finance - For adult members. Are you interested in improving or do need more information personal finances? Home and Family Finance provides members with automatically updated online personal finance information. New articles are added weekly on homes, vehicles, technology, money, and retirement.
NEFE Personal Finance Curriculum (High School) - Download lesson plans, student worksheets, and Power Point presentations from this Standard of Learning (SOL) based curriculum. Provides literature on personal finance topics such as budgeting, credit, saving, etc.
Virginia Educators Credit Union recognizes the importance of education. Therefore, we welcome our graduating high school seniors, college students, and educators to enter our scholarship essay contests each year.
Below are the following scholarships offered to VECUís members:
Clarence E. McKoy - $1,500 scholarship awarded to a VECU member that is a full-time student at a college/university or post-secondary institution within VECUís field of membership.
W. Phil Wynn - $1,500 scholarship awarded to a VECU member that is a graduating senior who has been accepted to attend a four-year college or university.
Kenneth B. Beennett Educators Scholarship - $1,500 scholarship awarded to a full-time educator who teaches at a school located within the credit unionís field of membership.
All scholarship applicants, excluding full-time educators, must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of a 3.0 or higher. Scholarship applications must be accompanied with a one page essay that is typed and double spaced.
