How To Join
To become a member of Virginia Educators Credit Union (VECU), you must establish a Prime Share (Savings) account. Once you are a member, you have the option to open other accounts, such as a checking and apply for VECU loans. Visit the VECU Accounts page to learn more.
The membership field of VECU includes: All students and persons engaged in educational services in the Virginia cities of Newport News and Williamsburg; All students enrolled in a college or university in the Virginia cities of Newport News, Hampton and Williamsburg; and all alumni of such colleges and universities; All students and persons engaged in educational services in the Virginia counties of Isle of Wight, York, James City, Gloucester and Mathews; Un-remarried spouses of persons who died while within the field of membership of this credit union, persons retired as annuitants from the above employment; Family members who are relatives by blood, by marriage or by law; Educational organizations among such persons; School auxiliary and/or activity services; Any retired educator currently residing in the localities specified in the existing field of membership.
Any person who has established membership in the credit union retains the full borrowing and savings rights of the membership for life. This means that employees who terminate their employment have lifetime use of credit union services.
